We need 84 volunteers for November - please come and help us!
Would you like to be on the Front Line?
We are putting together an army of people to staff the incredible Shrouds of the Somme at College Green in Bristol from 11-18 November marking the end of the Battle of the Somme. 19,240 hand-stitched shrouded figures will be laid out to represent Allied soldiers killed on just the first day of the battle. This is a particularly moving installation and will undoubtedly have a strong impact on the day. Large numbers are expected to visit, especially over the weekend which includes Remembrance Sunday.
There is a requirement for 84 volunteers and several organisations have offered to help. Would you like to assist as well?
Duties will involve assisting the public, collecting donations for Forces charity SSAFA, distributing programmes and taking orders.
We will be operating a 2 shift system (0900-1300 and 1300-1700) from Friday 11 November until the evening of Friday 18 November with a requirement for up to 8 volunteers per shift. Each shift will have a lead volunteer who will be briefed on the duties and supervise events. 24-hour security will be provided by a security firm.
